Book 6: Final Score

I've set new records for slacking over the past two months.  I still haven't gotten around to reading last month's selection and I haven't posted anything for this book since it's introduction.  I'm a bad, bad moderator.  Maybe I'll shape up in December.

At any rate, it's time to give What We Keep your final rating.

***** = This was one of the best books I've ever read.
**** = It was a great book, I'd definitely recommend it.
*** = It was pretty good.
** = There were some parts that were OK, but overall not great.
* = Not great.  At all.
0 = Didn't quite get around to this one.

Despite the fact that I posted NOTHING about this book, I really enjoyed it when I read it a few months ago. Of course, I can't remember why I felt that way. I suffer from book amnesia which means that as soon as the last page turns I hardly remember a thing about it. But still, I liked it and would pass it on.

I'll also give it 3 1/2 stars. I loved the parts from her childhood. I thought she did a great job of capturing moods and emotions of childhood. For some reason the adult portions of the book just didn't work for me. The dialogue seemed uncomfortable in these parts and I just didn't need those parts of the story. I would have been perfectly content with the story without the whole grown-up reunification with her mother. Still, the vast majority of the book was very good and quite engrossing.
