Book 3: Final Score

We're heading into the home stretch for Julie and Julia.  If you haven't yet read it, now is the time to get started.  If you've already finished, it's time to give the book your final rating.

***** = This was one of the best books I've ever read.
**** = It was a great book, I'd definitely recommend it.
*** = It was pretty good.
** = There were some parts that were OK, but overall not great.
* = Not great.  At all.
0 = Didn't quite get around to this one.

Please note: If you haven't yet started the book, Brenda found that the paperback version of the book has been released earlier than scheduled, and is now available in book stores.

I give it 3 stars. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to a select group...not everyone! It is what I call a "fun" book to read.

I agree - It is fun, especially for some summer pleasure reading by the pool! Not a real thinker(unless it inspires you to think about what you want to make for dinner), but a funny read. I give it 4 stars

I'm such a slacker. I have to give this book 0.25 stars because I'm only about a quarter of the way into the book. When I finish it, I'll update my rating. So far, I'm enjoying it, but I guarantee that I would never want to make or eat everything in MtAoFC cookbook.

I just finished the book, better late than never. First of all, cooking is usually the last thing on my list of things I like to do. It just doesn't happen. Secondly, I really enjoyed this book. Althought I never attempted such a project, I can totally see where she is coming from. There has been more than one instance where I have gotten into what we call at our house, a funk. Seems like you are getting nowhere, doing nothing, too bored to even be bored. Then I come up with a project (usually painting a room, fixing an old piece of furnature of some yard project). It is amazing how much it can pick you up. Even if the job sucks, parents drive you insane, kids are whinny, having a project can make all the difference. Great pick!

I JUST finished this book... and I'd give it 3 stars. I liked the idea of the book, thought she was kind of funny, and loved the concept of a project that starts out as a challenge and ends up changing your life.

I also appreciate the book for giving me fair warning to steer clear of Julia Child's cookbooks. I don't care how delicious Julie says it is - I am not interested in offal or marrow or pounds of butter with every meal.
