Rank and file
Now that we're in the last week of this month's selection, it's time to give it your final rating. Here are your options:
***** = This was one of the best books I've ever read.
**** = It was a great book, I'd definitely recommend it.
*** = It was pretty good.
** = There were some parts that were OK, but overall not great.
* = Not great. At all.
0 = Didn't quite get around to this one.
If none of these options fit, feel free to use your own scoring method. It's not like this is official or anything.

As I've said in a few other comments, there were a (very) few parts of this book that I liked. Overall, I was pretty disappointed that it wasn't as good as the other books by the author that I've read. If this had been the first of her books that I read, I'm certain I wouldn't have made it around to the others.
I'm looking forward to the next selection!

so, far, we are batting a thousand. I also gave it my best but don't see recommending this to a close or even distant friend. I think there were some good parts, I liked the chapter on her stint as a waitress. I thought it was funny how they bet on the tips they were going to get. It's interesting because we all have tricks we do to get through the long boring days when they happen (except jennie, she can just go get some ice cream) so it makes me think, what other tricks are there that people play who do those jobs we can't imagine being stuck with.
I guess my biggest problem is that dorothy seems very angry, and she has a right to be. but she never really does anything positive with that anger, she just bitches about her screwed up family. I just wanted to tell her to get over it and move on.
then there's the lesbian details..... but now who's the one bitching?
I also am looking forward to the next book. Can you hear me popping a cork? (not my temper, my wine)

0 -- I didn't get around to it. Because I'm a loser.

I am not totally done with the book, mostly becasue I really haven't been able to get into it. Even after spending 10 hours in a car this weekend, I wasn't able to finish it. I felt that I was reading something her therapist had prescribed as part of the healing process. She is a good story teller, but found a lot of the content a little raw.
Having a soft spot for Monkey's, the story Monkeybites really disturbed me when the monkey - still inside the cage - was thrown into the lake. I'm still thinking about that poor monkey!
I did see moments in the book where the writing was great so I do think I would check out her other books, but I wouldn't recommend this one.
